"We expect to have between 30 and 40 MPs in the 51st National Assembly," said Velichie [Grandeur] party leader Ivelin Mihaylov at a meeting with citizens in Stara Zagora on Monday.
According to him, the Maritsa East Thermal Power Plant (TPP) complex must work. "Years ago we had a National Security Strategy, in which we had a state reserve – of food, of fuel. One of our state reserves of electricity is the TPP because we have the fuel that is needed, the technology and the people who can operate it. If we close this TPP, we are left in a situation of force majeure without any electricity because we have nowhere to get fuel and repair the relevant facilities," Mihaylov said.
He added that Bulgaria could reduce emissions in other ways and this would prevent "us from closing this power plant, which is so strategically important for us. The reduction can be done by developing rail transport. If we develop it well, then road transport and heavy vehicle transport will fall by at least 50%," Mihailov added.
