Bulgaria’s EU partners already realize that defending civil rights cannot merely be a bilateral issue between Bulgaria and North Macedonia but should be raised at an EU level, President Rumen Radev said prior to his participation in the Sacred Language national conference in Plovdiv on Wednesday.
Radev called on Bulgarian politicians not to rush declaring a historic victory. The change of the Constitution of North Macedonia is not the last but the very first step towards integration, Bulgarian the head of State added.
Commenting on the political crisis in Bulgaria, Radev also said that the Council of Ministers should not hide behind Parliament, and that clear and responsible decisions are expected from the Cabinet.
Later on Wednesday, Prime Minister Kiril Petkov commented on bTV that instead of philosophizing on the North Macedonia topic, President Radev should convene the Consultative Council on National Security; otherwise, the head of State should not talk on the matter.
