Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev has asked the Finance Ministry to make sure the defence budget is over 2% of the Gross Domestic Product. "The condition I have set for the Finance Ministry is that the budget for armaments and defence is over 2% of GDP," he said at a ceremony at the Military Medical Academy (MMA) marking its 133rd anniversary.
He said the budget request should include a medical robot for the MMA.
Defence spending in the 2024 budget is 2.05% of GDP or BGN 4,216,980 billion.
