An exhibition titled Japanese Impressions will be displayed at Mazda Gallery on September 5, the organizers said on Tuesday. It will be a part of the autumn panel of Sofia Paper Art Fest.
Japanese Impressions presents 15 artists, most of them showing their works for the first time in Bulgaria. The collection is a joint curatorial project of Amateras Foundation and Nexus Association.
The exhibition will be opened by a representative of the Embassy of Japan in Sofia, in the presence of a group of Japanese artists, and curated by Japanese artist Kakuko Ishii and Amateras Foundation Art Director Daniela Todorova. "The project, which has become a tradition over the years, annually delights residents of the capita with elegant exhibitions, attractive side events, demonstrations and workshops," the organizers added.
Among the participants will be Atsumi Murata, known for her calligraphies on original "washi" paper. Her demonstration and a short presentation of specific calligraphic styles will be part of the opening of the exhibition.
