The state will assist the municipalities in preparing the systems in preparation for the euro, said E-government Minister Valentin Mundrov during a meeting with representatives of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB), said his ministry.
The discussion focused on the adaptation of the information systems used in the municipal administrations, according to the national plan for the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria. "Municipal administrations have a key role to play in ensuring a successful changeover to the euro and therefore must be prepared to ensure the smooth and seamless implementation of the euro in all public services managed by them," Mundrov added.
The Minister was adamant that the state would support each municipality by providing mayors – especially the smallest municipalities – with full assistance in implementing information systems and network security, the statement said.
"According to the adopted guidelines, municipalities will be able to submit information on the progress of preparation, and there will be an opportunity to receive instructions and ask questions, including through a call centre. Every question must be answered in a timely manner to avoid any problems," Mundrov said.
Participants agreed that the implementation of a centralized common approach between state institutions and municipalities is the basis for the successful transition of IT systems of administrations to work with the euro.
