Continue the Change party co-leader and former prime minister Kiril Petkov has filed a half-a-million leva defamation claim against GERB party leader Boyko Borissov. Petkov told journalists on Wednesday that he is suing Borissov, who is also a former prime minister, for his statement that Petkov and the other co-leader of Continue the Change, Assen Vassilev, received commission fees under natural gas supply contracts.
"My claim is about Borissov’s words that we took money from intermediaries, that we took commission fees," Petkov said. "I am tired of listening to his lies about intermediaries, commission fees, all those slanderous statements which he keeps making."
According to Petkov, the government which he headed between December 13, 2021 and August 2, 2022 managed to negotiate a price for natural gas which was lower than the European market level by USD 30.
