A collection of 43 icons of the Bansko icon painting school will be exhibited between March 24 and July 23 at the National Museum in Krakow, in the Palace of Bishop Erasmus Ciolek, which specializes in displaying medieval and Orthodox art, the Bulgarian Embassy in Poland said.
With its diverse holdings of valuable artistic and historical artefacts accumulated since 1879, the National Museum in Krakow, housed in 10 buildings, is recognised as one of the richest art museum institutions not only in Poland, but in the world.
Over the course of four months, residents and visitors to Poland’s most visited city will have the opportunity to see masterpieces by four generations of icon painters from the Bansko school.
Since October 2022, the icon exhibition has been shown with great success in Warsaw and Bialystok. The visit to Poland is a partnership between the Bansko Museum Complex and the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw.
