Bulgarian Ambassador in Cairo, Deyan Katrachev, discussed the opportunities for cooperation in the field of labour and social policy with Egyptian Labour Minister Mohamed Gibran, said the Embassy of Bulgaria in Cairo on Facebook.
During the meeting, Ambassador Katrachev made a request to speed up the procedure for finalizing and signing bilateral documents. The two also discussed developing and signing a Social Security Agreement between the two countries.
Katrachev and Gibran reviewed the agreements and good practices that the Arab Republic of Egypt implements with other member states of the European Union in the field of labour migration, with a view to identifying the interest of both countries in regulating relations in this area. Possible opportunities for opening the Bulgarian labour market to Egyptian youth and technical staff were also discussed, particularly in key sectors such as tourism, agriculture and others, the Embassy said.
Minister Gibran also presented the efforts of the Egyptian government and the Ministry of Labour to counter illegal migration, look for opportunities to provide legal channels for labour migration, guarantee access to health and social services for Egyptian workers and spread the culture of labour safety.
