Bulgarian caretaker Energy Minister Rossen Hristov held a phone conversation with Azeri counterpart Parviz Shahbazov, the Bulgarian Energy Ministry said in a press release here on Tuesday.
The two ministers discussed the stage of completion of the Greece-Bulgaria gas interconnector and Azerbaijan’s capability to supply gas through the pipeline. Shahbazov assured Hristov that Azerbaijan is ready to supply natural gas to Bulgaria as of October 1.
The two sides also discussed Azerbaijan’s technical capability of providing additional gas quantities in excess of the agreed ones.
Last week, Hristov stressed that he has resumed talks with Azerbaijan to secure additional gas supplies to Bulgaria to guarantee the quantities needed to cover the heating season, the Energy Ministry added.
